9 Millones Presents: Papeleta Report
Papeleta Report is a series that informs people in and outside of Puerto Rico about the events and important details surrounding the next general elections in the archipelago.
Dear 9 Millones community,
The 2020 general elections come in a critical point of Puerto Rico’s history. Since our last electoral cycle, we’ve witnessed the political aftermath of natural events, a national uprising, and a rising sense that we deserve to imagine and create a Puerto Rico that values our lives.
The challenging situations that we have lived unified the nine million Puerto Ricans across the globe as a nation. On the 3rd of November, we have another opportunity to show our people power and 9 Millones wants to share knowledge so we all feel confident in our choices.
That’s why today, I’m proud to present: Papeleta Report.
Papeleta is the Spanish word for a ballot and Papeleta Report is a series that informs people in and outside of Puerto Rico about the events and important details surrounding the next general elections in the archipelago.
Our goal is to help the electorate make an informed choice.
To accomplish this, the 9 Millones team is working to investigate, report, and answer questions such as:
What is the Electoral Code and how will it affect the 2020 election?
How effective are get out the vote campaigns during a pandemic?
Where can I learn more about the candidate’s platform?
We’ll also be sharing explainers to give context to changes in the elections.
Our first report will be about the new Electoral Code which was changed in the midst of the electoral cycle. This explainer will be published on October 30, 2020. Subscribe to our newsletter now and receive this and all our articles straight to your inbox.
